No it's not just a place that Bugs Bunny is always trying to find; after not taking a left turn in Albuquerque.
The days of all the Clams you can eat are long gone, sad to say.
Pismo Beach is a great location none the less.If you ask anyone that lives here where they live, they will say 'On the Central Coast.'
Pismo Beach is a recreation and tourism-oriented town with over 30 restaurants and more than 50 hotels, motels, inns and RV parks. With weather that will make most Californians shiver in the summer months. June and July is usually filled with fog that only clears for a few hours a day, With temps from 50F in the morning hours to 72F in the afternoon, with a strong breeze as the fog rolls back in to blanket the area for the night.
None the less the 'Die Hard' surfers will be out there anytime there are waves to be riddin.
When the sun does show in the summer months you can see all the way to the horizon for a great sunset over the Pacific Ocean that you will not soon forget. With a pier that extends almost due west from the town in to San Luis Obispo Bay.
In the hay day of Hollywood this was the play ground of the 'Stars' on their way to the private play ground of William Randolph Hearst. Hearst Castle is not to be missed when you are in the area. Now part of the California State Park System it is open to the public almost every day of the year. Be sure to call and get tickets a day in advance.
Even with one of the few Nuclear power plants in the state only a few miles away no one seems to mind or even worry about the dangers.
To find this little bit of heaven. Airports are not far away, The county government seat; San Luis Obispo(SBP) is only 10 miles inland. it is also only 90 minutes from Santa Barbara(SBA). Or from international airports Los Angles(LAX) go north on the 405 then north on 101 for 180 miles or you can head south from San Fransico(SFO), or San Jose(SJC)(AKA:Silicon Valley) on interstate 101 and drive for 4-5 hours.
