Cornwall

Originally famous for great beaches (usually infested by rubber-wearing individuals riding ironing boards), this English county is now famous for the extra 60 seconds of darkness due on the 11th August 1999.
Strangely, this will not take place at the end or beginning of the day, but during normal daylight hours.
Inhabitants of Cornwall are warning visitors not to attempt to look at the sun during this time, presumably because the whole of Cornwall is normally covered in cloud and the resulting disappointment would further damage the economy.
