A Conversation for Share and Enjoy
What were you doing in my living room last night?

Because I was talking to Bernadette and Sean, and I said "What the site needs now is the ability for existing users to send messages to non-members inviting them to join."
My thoughts went slightly further - it would be a 'friends list' which you could keep updated, and as soon as that person joined the Guide, you would know about it on your home page. The list would also give you easy links to those people you like to read.
But I didn't think of calling the link 'Share and Enjoy' though.
Would you accept a copy of the 'Illustrated Hitchhiker's Guide' signed by Douglas Adams in exchange for not eavesdropping on my private conversations at home? Just mail me your postal address (at [email protected]) and we'll sort that out.
And we are definitely intending to implement the 'invite a friend' feature in the near future.

Remember, we watch your every move. Why? You are not cleared for that.

Weeeeeelll.. of course this goes back to the old theory regarding a thousand monkeys and a typewriter. People are going to come up with similar ideas, especially in an environment such as h2g2.com which seems designed to encourage creative thought.
The trick is to be the first to get credit for it.

I'll have one - I promise I'll wear earplugs at all times whilst snooping around your house
I'll wear a blindfold too for a signed set of CD's

So, let me get this straight. The idea is to come up with an idea at the same time as one of the TDV crew, write a page on it, give it a snappy title and sit back and take half the credit? Wow, it makes me wish I had an imagination!

I have a spare imagination made by the Sirius Cybernetics Corporation. I'd let you buy it, only it doesn't work...

or in other words, everything you think of should be written down as a userpage just in case....
I wonder if I'll get anything if they ever decide that a chatroom might be a good idea after all

Typical. Would it have run under Microsoft Windows?

Can't I just have a signed book anyway? It hurts when I try to think of things.

Another conversation laid to waste by Benjymous and co. What fun.
An offer you can't refuse
Jim Lynn Posted Jun 4, 1999
OK, Benjy. If you don't say another word about chatrooms until we implement them (and that includes asking when that will be) then you can have a signed book. If you're really good, it might even be Douglas who signs it.
Fair enough?
