Mittarfeqarfiit - what about the Heliports?

Post 1

Well, I am just wondering about the heliports in Greenland?

Isn't they owned by Mittarfeqarfiit? The gravel strip in Marmorilik, the Umanaq heliport shack, with the flight controller in a plattform on the top, the soccer field, beside the church in Sarqaq (ok, ok, not that one) or Qaqortoq International, the heliport of luxurity, smack beside what where then one of the better housing areas in -87 smiley - smiley.

Greenland is not airports, it is heliports and Sikorsky S-61 and Bell 212, some rumored to have bullets hole still from Vietnam (never saw one though). In my days Greenland Air even serviced some S-61 for a New York commuter air line, they flew them up to Nuuk for service.

And that little steel plate in front of the turbine air intake on the 1:st helo at the White House, protecting the intakes, Greenland Air design I believe.

That's a good point. Greenland Air has a mission to provide transport to all parts of Greenland. The remoter parts get helicopter service. I'd be surprised if Mittarfeqarfiit didn't run the heliports. But I'll have to go home and check my sources to find out.
