yeah um a friend of mine had a forum and he decided to scrap it and write his own and now it isn't very good so i want to make my own so i can enjoy the small-forum-experience once again
so what language should i use?
i wanna use jsp for all of its nice oop features but every1 (including the voices) says php
what do you think?
btw, i dunno what my options r since i have to shell into my host
any good php resources?
any ideas on what language i should use other than jsp or php
i kinda wanna learn php anyway
but i already know java so jsp would b nice
but sum1 said that jsp is no good and that i might not even b able to use it on my server since it isn't mine
*pauses for breath*
sorry for the chatspeak and all of that

Personally I'd write something like this in Perl - I'm not a big fan of PHP (security problems). I have however seen PHPBB in action and it's much much better than UBB which it has pretty much replaced. UBB is an ugly spaghetti mess.

I used a version of phpbb and it was nicely hacked at around the time I was making the change to Snitz (Access/.asp) - admin password compromized and a very minor change made to board name made - enough to say "We'd been here and could have done more"
Writing your own would be a challenge - good luck

lol well i really wanna go for the whole oop experience, so i can write a simple class for every10 and update them w/ new features w/o having to go in and rewrite whole chunks of code
i mean, isn't that y we like oop in the first place? laziness?
go java!
