Hello... Please read this review of this very fine restaurant, and let me know if it is appropriate for the food and drinks portion of the guide.
Thanks,

As it stands this entry isn't suitable for the Edited Guide - for reasons which will become clear to you when you read the writing guidelines on A53209.

Hi jaystone Welcome to h2g2 and Welcome to Peer Review
You may also like to take a look at some of the Entries that have previously been written about 'Restaurants, Pubs and Bars' at - C461 these have been through the Peer Review process and are now Edited Entries, maybe they will give you an idea of the type of Entry that would be suitable for Peer Review.

It's odd that this is *exactly* the sort of thing DNA had in mind when he saw the potential of H2G2 (or so I gather). Still, things have moved on.
You can still leave the entry without putting it in the edited guide and it should still turn up on searches etc.

I'll let someone else answer that roymondo, I'm not even going to try to.
I was going to post saying that some of the older Entries in the C461 probably wouldn't pass today's high standards for Edited Entries.

I know it's contentious but I'm under the impression that DNA envisaged a guide where people could eat out, pull out their PDA and write an entry about it. I know that it's impractical and I think the guide is probably better the way it is but it's a shame that the original idea never came to pass.

People still *can* write entries like that, and they certainly do. We have a big tremendous Guide here, and there's still a point to entries even if they're not in the Edited Guide. And if you want to rant about this, a newbie's Peer Review thread really isn't the place to do it.

Ssshhhh don't tell anyone, but I've never read any of DNA's books, listened to the radio shows, watched the TV programmes or seen the film, and have no idea what DNA's vision for h2g2 was.
All I know is, in my ignorance, I enjoy my time here.

Who really cares what DNA's vision for h2g2 was? I'm sorry to sound so harsh, but DNA is dead and it's time for us to move on. Doubtless what h2g2 has become is not what it was six years ago. Frankly, I find it tiresome when people invoke DNA's name and try to proclaim about what he would or would not have wanted for this site. Does anyone here have a direct telepathic link to DNA? No, of course not. He's dead, so you can't contact him, and telepathy doesn't exist anyway.
Just my .
Emmily, you should read the books or listen to the radio series. DNA or no DNA, h2g2 or no h2g2, they're still an excellent piece of work.

Vision or no vision, this isn't really suitable for the edited guide (see <./>Writing-Guidelines</.>, and the author doesn't exactly seem to be working on it...

I think that the original vision of what H2G2 should be was exactly what this researcher has created . But the Edited Guide is a usefull edition.
I would like to think that if I ever find my self in Chicargo looking for somewhere to eat I could use a mobile internet connection on my laptop or a local internet-cafe, come to h2g2 and find entries just like this one. But I agree this is not edited guide material.
PS I know IL is Ilonoise (although I may have spelt it wrong), you know that IL is Ilonoise, but does every one? That's something to look out for in this and your future efforts.

Illinois. You don't pronounce the final 's', because it's of French origin (I assume). It's pronounced 'Ill-i-noy'.

I know you mean 'pronounce it' - just goes to show how irritating spelling and typing correctly can be...
