Oh well that would be the salt plains I should think, although the presence of the chemical industries does somewhat marr that particular landscape...
Of course, the most local famous place from my house is Jodrell Bank, and seeing as the Lovell Telescope doesnt deal with visible light anyway, it being deep and dark probably isnt too worrying....
