Glad to see your article was not lost, after all.

Take the time to learn some GuideML.. you'll find lots of help here smiley - smiley

Someone suggested on the panic thread that you use a text editor, and that is a very good idea

Even windows notepad works very well creating Guide entries.. and you can preview most of the look using your browser offline -- just save the text file with an .htm extension

Drop by anytime if you have a question

and welcome to h2g2

Hi Hotblack,

Really pleased you didn't lose it - it's excellent. Will be watching out for short judo experts from now on.

I'm not up on the Guide ML much either - only just started looking at it. But I don't think you need to be using a header (and it may not be valid - hence the warnings you are getting). I think the whole text of your piece should be in the body (though I'm sorry to add to your confusion especially if I turn out to be wrong).

Ta ta for now - I'm off to chase some rainbows. Ellie

One of the best ways to learn GuideML is to look at other Researchers pages

For example, you can visit my page and click on the "view the code for this page"

You can view any researchers page by replacing the 'U' in the number in the address with 'TestUserPage'

Also take a look at the pages devoted to explaining how GML works -- some of the links are on my links page ...

To 'get rid' of the tags, first make sure your page is set to work in plain text, and then just delete them normally.

I suggest making a separate page for testing GML, and making small test entries on it

Good luck, and don't hesitate to ask me or anyone else for help

smiley - cheers

And you can check (or copy) the GuideML from any Axxxxx entry by replacing the 'A' with 'test'

http://www.bbc.co.uk/h2g2/guide/test586307 will display the GuideML of Entry A586307

NO worries lads [and thanks ellie], all has been sorted amidst the confusion. my ACE [the ACE of ACEs, the coolest of all ACEs in the land (no offence)- Ekki ekki ekki f'tang hala hala hala ba'whing...- none other] helped me fix it all up so it works and goes orange and stuff! i have yet to discover how to put pictures in and stuff but i'm sure all will be well.

Yes we are smiley - smiley

Re: Images: try /guide/testuserpage132240 and look for the tag at the top! You can only use graphics which *are* already on h2g2 (called 'blobs' or binary large objects), there are no external ones possible smiley - sadface
