A Conversation for The Seal Appeal

This is an interesting and challenging proposal.
Does this mean I could write a poem on, say, the death of the Chinese cockle pickers in Morecambe Bay (which I did) and get it included in the Edited Guide? If it was good enough, of course .
The question is, where are the well-informed, talented scouts or miners who could decide?

" The Guide was just a narrative device which allowed me to run off at tangents whenever the story seemed to be getting a bit dull."
Somewhere it is said that H2G2 is a an 'unconventional' Guide to Life, the Universe and Everything created by a networked community sharing information that is instantly available to anybody to read.
From - A943184 - A History of 'The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy' -
"In 1999 The Digital Village, a company co-founded by Douglas to explore the possibilites of the emerging New Media world, created the website h2g2. Their aim was to create a real-life version of the Guide. In February 2001, they handed over control of h2g2 to the BBC. People from all over the world can register as 'Researchers' and write short articles (or 'entries') on different topics. Examples of existing topics are: 'Etiquette for Chess Spectators', 'Evil from a Western Perspective', 'Alaskan Fish Plants' and 'How Soap Works'."
How/when did the 'Edited Guide' evolve ?
Was it before or after the tragic death of Douglas Adams ?
Do those signing up for h2g2 do so to join a community of travelers/lurkers rather than researchers ?
Do they write guide entries for fun and purpose not for editing. ?
Is it not enough to write for the Post rather than Editors and Judges.
Judging should be left to the moderators. Worthy entries need to be selected not 'judged' and only edited as and when necessary or when help is requested.
PS. Whatever happened to Book of the Future entries ? - http://www.bbc.co.uk/dna/onthefuture

"The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy is a wholly remarkable book. It has been compiled and recompiled many times and under many different editorships. It contains contributions from countless numbers of travellers and researchers."
