Bill Bryson and the art of the English language and travel

2 Conversations

If you want to know why we speak the way we do? Then this is the man who can tell you. In his books, "Mother Tongue: The English Language" and "Made In America" he basically explains that everything you learnt in your English course is probably wrong. Well perhaps not that far, but it is a humorous look at the world of the English language.
However, Bill Bryson is perhaps better known for his travel books. These include "Notes From A Small Island" and "The Lost Continent".
In these, Bill (if I can call him Bill) takes the reader on a long and very funny journey. If you do not mind laughing out loud whilst reading, then I recommend Bill Bryson to you
