This is an entry of mine that explains what is the skill of telekinesis and how anyone can develop it on his or her's own.

Well, serious now...
Can you claim that you're describing reality? This question is a serious issue, as per the h2g2 Writing Guidelines, fiction won't be accepted into the editing process.
other than that, please demonstrate your skills and away those nasty typos

I have a feeling that this article needs some scientific backing. Now I'm the first to admit that I don't read as much of the literature as I should, but I'm sure I'd have remembered the piece in Nature about moving things with the power of will alone.
I'm never sure when I encounter something like this whether it is intended for me to express 'belief' or 'interest'. I must confess I would be fascinated if this could be done for real.
All the best,
Cestus

...just pay no attention to the man behind the curtain (or the magnet under the table or the gust of wind across it or...)
Seriously though, I'm afraid I don't really think this is suitable for the Guide. I do admit to being extremely skeptical about telekinesis, but it's more than that. Guide Entries are meant to be objective and balanced, and I feel this article should mention a lot of the skepticism towards telekinesis or such.
I also would recommend that perhaps you volunteer to help out with the University project on the topics, since I'm sure Mikey would appreciate the help:

You can probably volunteer on the page and talk to her there, but remember she's in the Pacific Coast, so she's probably not up yet.
Yours,
Jake

Ahh - telekinesis! Excellent!
A lovely idea for an entry - and I'm glad to see you tackle it. As you say, lots of people believe in telekenesis, and it's important that that is represented in the guide. Yeay! There is a tiny problem in that the existance of telekenesis is somewhat controversial. It's not a major problem, though - all you need to do is to point out that not everyone believes in it, and you'll be ok. A single sentence in the introduction would do it.
It seems to me that this is more of an entry on "Learning Telekinesis" than "Telekinesis" - the latter ought to investigate the science (if any) behind telekinesis and the debate over its existance, where it comes from, and how it works, for example. You have a choice here, I feel - to either widen the entry to do justice to the title, or to change the title to more accurately reflect the contents of the entry.
I definately agree with Mr. Cogito that you should seriously consider collaborating with Mikey in her university project - that way you can be part of a series of entries on the topic, really exploring the diverse range of issues around telekinesis and telepathy - and making some wonderful entries to entrance us all. What do you think?

What they said.
Seriously, if you'd like to take this entry out of Peer Review and instead join our University Project on ESP, you might have better luck with it. I'm already working on an entry on how to test yourself for "hidden psychic powers" (including telekinesis), but we're also planning a more scientific entry on telekinesis, plus an entry on "how to develop your telekinetic powers". This entry might be a good start for that last bit.
Contact me at the URL Lucinda listed above or at my user space for more info.
Just FYI, there are a few things in the entry that will need work whether you go the Peer Review or University route. 1) No first person usage (I, me, my) in entries like these. 2) One of the big hallmarks of edited guide entries is that they need to be "researched, factual, balanced, and objective". Researched means that there needs to be more evidence backing up your entry than just "because I told you so". Balanced means that you need to acknowledge that not everyone will agree with you on this. Objective means that you need to consider other points of view whenever possible.
Also, at the end of your entry you talk about success, and it working, but you don't really define what you mean by that. Is success being able to make the penny move every now and then when the weather's right? Or is it being able to make it move every time regardless?
And if, as you say, there are tons of people out there who are able to do this, why is there no scientific verification? Why aren't these feats ever replicated in a controlled, laboratory environment?

Hi Researcher 179820
Thought I'd help out with some spellings and offer a bit of support.
1) You may make enemies by suggesting only men can develop this power. I'm going to go off and try! Try "can be developed by anyone willing" (or "...willing and determined")
2) to move objects with sheer willpower (sheer means absolute or simple; willpower is one word)
3) I would advise against ..."own weight(!)." Any ! is going to suggest you're kidding a bit; a full stop(.) will add more gravity to the posting.
4)"Tie a lightweight.." try "Tie a light weight" - to me, lightweights are people who fight in boxing matches!
5) Tie the fishing string off a shelf.
6)... "until it does", not "until it will". You've used "will" in the best way at the start of the sentence, I like that.
7) "Conveniently find your self..." try "yourself" - just one word...
8) "the room your in" would be "you are in", but you could just say "in the room"
9)"STRAIGHT, LIGHT" I suggest you don't use capitals, so you don't overplay the message. I'd recommend changing "your self" and "until it will" again.
I look forward to seeing you in the project.
Don't worry if you get too many disparaging voices, you will always find sceptics

Mr. Cogito Posted Jun 25, 2001
Hello,
There are two ways entries are added to the Guide*. One of the ways is individually through the Peer Review process, which I assume you already know about. The University system is another way, in which dedicated researchers will work on completing a whole series of complementary entries on a topic. For instance, the most recent University project was a series of entries on American history from the Revolutionary War. This system allows for a certain level of consistency and organization among multiple areas within a topic, so it's rather cool. Mikey the Humming Mouse (a woman by the way) is working on a University topic of the Paranormal, with articles on ESP, Telekinesis, etc. I recommend you help out, since you get to circumvent Peer Review and get a chance to really help with likeminded people and show the Guide where you shine.
For more information on the University system, check out http://www.bbc.co.uk/h2g2/guide/C573
Yours,
Jake
* There is a third way. The Contributing to the Guide discussions are often created into Entries by the Editors.

Thanks Sinistrus for thanking me BTW - you can call me Fenny, everyone else does!
Sinistrus - you could beef the Entry up, by adding a paragraph telling us how you came to know about telekinesis, and anotherwith a couple of examples about what you can do now. Also, you could make the lessons into paragraphs, rather than have a numbered list, which makes me think of recipes.
Thanks Lucinda (et al) for cheering me on 8)I'm quite used to being jeered at (not only online) for believing in non-conventional abilities, but I don't often get support! Yours was appreciated.
And Mr. Cogito I'm that sucker! Hi!

Don't worry - I thought I saw a wink there, Mr Cogito! I didn't take offense... but please call me Fenny, otherwise I think I've done something wrong!
I've also posted to one of your journal entries, Mr C, just in case you hadn't noticed!
