Gardner's is basically a biologically based set of intelligences-his Multiple Intelligence Model uses research based on the performance of savants, such as the young autistic man that can represent buildings in pencil drawings with an astonishing degree of accuracy and yet otherwise is quite unremarkable. Gardners idea is that if these intelligences manifest themselves seemingly independently then there may well be a biological cause for them to flourish, he goes so far as to postulate that we may all, in prospect, have these potentials. Incidentally most recently he is up to 8.5 different intelligences. He's included 'the ability to classify' and is semi-serious about 'spiritual intelligence'. He believes that the list will grow as we isolate further seemingly seperate 'abilities', for want of a much better word.
