"She said that it's not a british tradition to hate immigrants."
She is kind of correct. It is British tradition to USE them rather than hate them. Immigrants have always been used in one way or another, by force or by choice. The hate only comes in when what is percieved to be only a British right is taken. (Like Healthcare, Benefits, good paying jobs, council houses etc)

That's what they were saying yesterday; there may have been a million people or so who voted BNP, but they've not been told the true ideals of the BNP, only things that seem attractive to them as voters.
Add that to the idiocy and uncertainty caused by the current government, these voters were looking for an alternative, and so Nick Griffin wormed his way into the European Parliament.
Wanker.

I don't understand the uproar this has created.
If the press where sensible they wouldn't give him the satisfaction of all this free publicity they get.
This always happens, when times get tough (as Herc said) people start looking out for number one. Inevitably that means parties that "apparently" look after the heart of the nation always comes to the front.
People opld like me and Herc will remember recently the Oldham Riots and futher back. As I say when times are tough this always happens, it just it seems the press like to sensationalise things these days.
The pathetic little man will go away soon.

CHAfro unfortunately that hate comes in as soon as they step off the boat and even more unfortunately their grandkids pick up the pickets of those who spat on and abused their relatives.
I guess it's only human nature to blame others and fear what's different though.

"it's not a british tradition to hate immigrants."
I would agree but with the amendment of the word "hate" to "fear".
I believe that it is normal to fear the unknown, its a survival instinct from way way back. Without it, prehistoric man would have been trying to pet sabre tooth tigers. And we wouldn't be here.
Throughout history, and in virtually every society, the influx of numbers of people with different cultures, social norms and language, has created a climate of fear.
This is normal. The solution is education in the broadest sense. If we fear the unknown, then making it known removes the uncertainty.
I can remember in my youth people complaining about "all that foreign muck they eat". Today the curry and the kebab are the mainstay of a good English night out.
The more we learn about the new people joining "our" society, the easier integration becomes. Its a two way movement, we can learn much from newcomers and they can also benefit from the British strengths, free speech and fair play being the best.
It takes time, there are no easy quick fixes, and its down to each one of us to try to conduct ourselves in ways that increase understanding whichever ethnic/religious grouping we happen to be from.
That is why I am so pleased at the way you have all tolerantly accepted a Man Utd fan on this board. It does you all credit. football?

And I don't "despise" Rafael Nadal any more. It's merely "dislike" now.
We love Man Utd

I don't even dislike Nick Griffin because he's racist I hate him because he pretends he's not.
I think a lot of people are also undestimating the million who voted BNP, they know it's a racist party, they know full well, if you're concious enough to vote you know what you're doing when you tick that BNP vote I think pleading ignorance is a complete cop out.
That smiley guy in the audience wearing a suit who was sympathising with the reasons "someone else" would vote for the BNP for example .... He blatantly voted for the BNP.
In my opinion you may vote for BNP and not be a racist but in voting for them you have done something racist.

On football why has Lawro said we've been playing badly and winning? We've been playing some good stuff? I thought we should have beaten Chelsea by more and they have probably the best balanced team in the league, what has he been watching?
Anyway...

Herc, yes people know the BNP are racist no matter how much they try and flower it up. But I honestly think people voted for them as they had no one else to vote for.
The sheer Stupidity of some people, Labour have let us down, I can;t vote Conservative or Liberal becuase that's not the way I;ve been brought up so I'll vote Racist... Erm... BNP in protest.
I can't believe that many people believe in the BNP racist values, more they don't believe in the in the moral values of the main parties.
Shall we start up a political Party called "Average Man" - We will judge people on Morality. Reform the whole benefits system and make people work for anything the get. I have so many policies that wouldn't be popular with a large core of Labour supporters, but only because they would have to work to achieve a decent standard of living.
