I know there are various in-depth entries on aspects of the sixties but I thought this would be a nice overview of the decade as a whole.

This is a good entry, but doesn't it fufil the same role as A2450549, which also functions as an overview which links to more detailed entries?

We do ask that people don't replicate material already present in the Edited Guide. It's a shame that you were not around when we did this as a collaborative topic.

However, there are sections in your entry that don't appear in our entries on the subject, and I'd hate to lose this research. If you're willing, I'd love to be able to incorporate some of the paragraphs here into the existing entries and credit you as a Researcher. Does that sound agreeable?

yes that sounds fine. sorry about the replication, i searched briefly for a sixties entry and ones on specific topics but no general ones. i guess i should have looked further.

i like the idea of incorporating my entry into the existing ones. sounds perfectly agreeable.

Also, how can you miss out Mary Quant and the mini-skirt under fashion, and the burn-your-bra campaign (and the penchant for bralessness in general)...

... the 'ban-the-bomb' campaign under politics...

I've just keyed a few of these words/phrases into the hootoo search engine, and there doesn't seem to be much of it in the EG.

a glorious bit of 60's sport that has been missed out is the british legends of motorcyling, possibly the best era there has been (mades note that I think BBC sport is running something on the greatest bike rider ..)

In the 60s, we had a world champion ever year execpt 1969 (i think)

60 - John Surtess in 350cc and 500
61 Mike Hailwood in 250
62, 63, 64 Mike Hailwood in 500
65 Mike Hailwood in 500s, Phil Read in 250s
66, 67 Hailwood in 350s and 250s
68 Phil Read in 250s

And where were you guys when we compiled the same entry? Pah!

Many thanks for that. All you need to do now is go to the Peer Review page, find your entry and click the 'X' or 'Remove' link at the end of it. That will pull the entry out of Peer Review and you'll be able to start on your next mega entry

And if you lot fancy adding to the 1960s entries, you can always write us a paragraph or two and submit it to <./>Feedback-Editorial</.>.
