Dating Agencies

I suggest before joining an agency, that you do a little research of your own. Firstly, make sure that you understand the way the agency operates. Some, for example, match couples by computer, and others have a more personalised system for matching couples with similar interests and personalities etc. The more expensive agencies even allow their customers free run of their files (some including photographs) - The customers themselves get to decide who they would like to date. And make sure you get written details of the amounts of money the agency charges for specific types of membership, as some agencies have hidden extras.
Why join an agency?
Personally, I don't recommend joining an agency, unless it is the type that provides the customer with photographs of the matches they are likely to meet. All too often, a person can sound great on paper, but when you actually meet them, you can be terribly disappointed unless you are already suitably prepared for the hairy eared train-spotter/ Neanderthal / Robin-Cook-look-a-like that turns up (If you're a man, that is!)
Ladies
If you're in any doubt as to whether you should join a dating agency or not, my advice is: IF IN DOUBT, DON'T!)
Gentlemen
Ask yourself why you're having to resort to joining an agency. If the answer is: 'I never meet any suitable young ladies because I work in a male-dominated industry', or 'All my female friends are attached', then fair enough - go ahead and join. However, if you answered that question with: 'Because I'm too shy to go out and meet women myself', then believe me, you won't fair any better with a dating agency - as these sort of dates put pressure on even the most hardy types, and can prove disastrous if you really have trouble talking to people.
In summary
Dating agencies are full of really intelligent, attractive women with wonderful lively personalities, but unfortunately the types of men that join tend to be shy, retiring sorts who have trouble meeting and talking to people of the opposite sex. Which is great if you're a man, but not so good if you're a woman. BE WARNED!
Personal Experience
And before you ask, yes, I have been a member of two dating agencies myself. They were, and still are, the most popular dating agencies in Britain today. I, however, found their services more than a little wanting. And I thank fate (or whatever powers that be) for the fact that I am finally attached, and no longer have to enter the minefield which is the Dating Game.
THE BEST OF LUCK TO ALL YOU SINGLETONS
