A Conversation for Facebook - An introduction

I think you could write a couple of sentences explaining the differences between h2g2 and FB - no more is needed in this article. I had misconceptions about it, having got used to h2g2 and other older style forums. A lot of people (probably in the 'older' generation) seem quite hesitant to join, but it is quite useful to show your aunties your family photos, if nothing else!

You write...

>>
Not normally considered by the general public to be a competitor with Facebook it does share many of the charateristics.

I suggest...

smiley - biro Whilst not normally considered to be a competitor with Facebook, h2g2 has many similar characteristics. However, h2g2 predates Facebook by 5 years.

Also, note you have missed the 'c' out of the middle of
characteristics (if you don't want to cut and paste in my suggestion) smiley - smiley

>>>You can talk to each other (albeit more slowly), you can join group and you can organise events.

Do you mean?

smiley - biroFor instance, you can talk to other users (albeit more slowly on h2g2)

smiley - biro missing 's' at the end of {group}

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I like the idea that conversation is of better quality on h2g2 smiley - oksmiley - biggrin
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Where you write
>>>
Another difference is that Facebook is primarily used to find friends who user's are already friends with in the real world while H2G2 allows users to make new friends with strangers.<<<

I think you mean

smiley - biro One difference is that Facebook is primarily used to contact friends that are already known to the user in the real world, whereas h2g2 allows users to make completely new friends.

You're doing very well here nosebagbear! I know its fiddly but it will be worth it!

smiley - cheers

Nice work! smiley - ok

Sorry only just noticed, h2g2 is written with lower case letters, not in capitals. I should have pointed it out earlier but was looking more at the grammar earlier.

smiley - online2long

I'll have another look later, after supper. smiley - smiley

there is another 'H2G2' in the section on groups that needs changing.

Where you say...
>>>Remember
What goes on tour, goes on Facebook<<<

I still don't understand, (you have to imagine I'm your gran or something) and explain what you mean to this elderly fogie.

Ahah! now it becomes clear - thanks!

that is why elderly relatives can tell how wasted their grandson's became at that last party they went to.

Your Guide Entry has just been picked from Peer Review by one of our Scouts, and is now heading off into the Editorial Process, which ends with publication in the Edited Guide. We've therefore moved this Review Conversation out of Peer Review and to the entry itself.

If you'd like to know what happens now, check out the page on 'What Happens after your Entry has been Recommended?' at EditedGuide-Process. We hope this explains everything.

Thanks for contributing to the Edited Guide!
