Thanks for your help and encouragement... I will act on Lil's advice when I come back from France in about a month.
Meanwhile I started on the introduction to Section Two this morning; and I hope that it will require less new material than Section One. The residue of the original "Towards Post" should provide the bulk of the material... After all it is/was supposed to be a contribution to the start of a process, not the conclusion.
Thanks again
Cass

Thanks for your good wishes. But in retirement the distinction between work and holiday blurrs somewhat. My wife is French and on her retirement we were fortunate to be in a position to buy a little house in her native Burgundy. But houses and gardens require living in,and maintenance: and on this occasion we have the extra challenge of holding a family get-together on 25 October which is intended to be the "French end" of our son's wedding in London in August. My wife is approaching it with all the terror that French women seem to have over the prospect of being "up for inspection" before various members of the family matriarchy.
Regards
Cass
PS. If you are curious before the end of the next month or so the heavily re-written "Section One" is posted in seven entries on My Space.

It sounds delightful, although a little stressful for your wife. I'll think of you enjoying the 'night hills' (cĂ´tes de nuit)

Yes. Not too far away. We are closer to "hauts cotes de Beaune": and our lovely neighbour will be horrified yet again when we leave before the 'vidange' and the great wine tasting of the new Burgundies.
Within sight of the lights of London, when we had first contracted to buy the place, I was struck by a "what on earth have we done?"...thought but there are good family reasons-- and I am a great believer in life-projects.
And this time of the year living by the warmth of a wood-burning stove has its charms- for a few weeks at least.

Hello boys,
I'm only here for a few minutes. Sorry Cass, I gave you a couple of broken links, but have now corrected those. I'm always pushing the wrong buttons!
Not so bald eagle, I take it you have found the link in Casseroleon's message centre? It would be good to have you along, as once this goes to the Subeditors we will both only be ing..
lil xx
