You could add to the method of getting rid of it ...
If it comes with a free reply envelope - send it all back to them.
or - better still ..
Wait till you have two envelopes from different companies and send each of them the other company's junk.

But knowing they have to pay for the mail you have returned is some minor retribution.

It also ensures that yet more fuel will be used up in transporting it wherever, with no guarantee that it will be recycled...

Eh? More like an eye and another eye.
Energy and resources are wasted in producing the stuff in the first place, yet more in mailing it to you, and then *even more* if you mail it back. One letter may not make much of a difference, but it adds up!
