Spam in Hawaii...

Believe it or not, SPAM is big in the islands. I think it has more to do with preperation then anything else, though. A common means of consumption is called Spam Musubi, which consists of a small strip of spam, (fried to an almost-crisp) some japanese-style sticky rice, all rolled in 'nori' (imagine a paper-thin tortilla made of dried, seasoned seaweed). Very tasty, actually. The rice sets off the overwheming saltiness of the spam well, while the seaweed serves two purposes: it keeps it in a nice little bundle, and it lends its own flavour (seaweed does NOT taste as bad as you'd think).
