Almighty Rob - mourning the old h2g2

I've finished an ASCII propaganda poster, if you want to have a look:

http://www.bbc.co.uk/h2g2/guide/A541531

I think this could be a propaganda repository, so if you want to do something, whether a speech, a poster, a bumper sticker, a banner ad, anything at all.... email the code to me at mailto:[email protected]
I'll add them to the page.

Keep the fight going guys, it's just a matter of time.

Cheers,
Rob.

Okay, I just posted links to The ASCII Uprising and copied your Zaphodista Poster onto the main Zaphodista page.

Might I suggest you make a separate page showing the code for these images, so that people unfamiliar with GuideML could copy and paste the code into their pages? I was able to cut out the poster from looking at the source code, but it took a little extra manipulation. Had to remove the and codes.

I guess people could copy the images of skulls & Che could be exactly as they appear, and paste them in between open and close tags. But any changes of font color won't show up without copying and pasting the code, plus that link to the Zaphodistas in the middle of the poster. That poster blows my mind. smiley - steam

I only suggest a separate page because it would allow all the pretty images to show up here, without being blemished by the gnarly code. But the code could go on the same page if that would be easier.

Good work, soldier!

Subcom,

Thought you might like to know that the poster was removed by Peta because it breached the House Rules. The text (overthrow the BBC etc etc) and an image of a man with a gun are not acceptable.

My personal space was also called into question, because I'm an ACE.

I emailed Peta explaining that I tendered my resignation as an ACE some time ago, and she said she'd remove me from the list, so that was just a mistake.

And I asked what had to be changed to reinstate the poster.

On a more positive note, Freedom (U40491) gave me an ASCII image to use, which I will add ASAP...

Cheers,
Rob.

Rob,

If you still have it, could you please post the text and maybe the ASCII art that was deleted from the Zaphodista Propaganda page over on n2g2? I'd like to keep a record of the kind of inoffensive things that keep getting censored. If you're not sure how to get to "n2g2" then please email me. I'll put my email address on my personal space, so it won't get deleted from this message thread.

Peta said the revised version of the Zaphodista Propaganda poster with flower should be acceptable. The code is like so:

Excellent...
although I still don't see the original as a problem, I guess we'll have to agree to disagree...

No, I'm totally with you. The original was clearly a joke, clearly not meant as a threat against anyone when seen in the context of the metaphorical "war" rhetoric of all the Zaphodista writings so far. I think it was silly for them to remove the original version, but hopefully if we catch enough people's eyes with the flower version and get people active in the "fight for your freedom," then h2g2 will return to the kind of place where your original version would be allowed.

Just created another ascii protest image, but it might get censored since it consists of the BBC logo. Each block of the logo consists of a sentence repeated:

"Moderation is not censorship."

"Because we have to ensure we understand a posting before we can pass it, languages other than English may have to be removed."

"Besides, virtual elections are more fun anyway!"
