Sub-Ed and Scout...

If I become both a Sub-Editor and a Scout, would that let me pick an entry (as a Scout) and then edit it straight away?

Well. It was straight to the point I suppose. Like being so blunt, do you. Never mind then.

As an h2g2 Researcher, you can select (cut and paste) an article, sub edit it and display it on your h2g2 space, a place where anybody using the h2g2 search engine can find it.

Don't forget to credit the original author.

LOL.

Sorry about being so blunt - the smiley - devil must have made me do it. And I'm not quite sure what Looney is talking about. smiley - silly

Seriously, in answer to your question. Scouts are not allowed to pick their own entries and Subeditors are never given their own entries to edit.

The Scout prohibition is hard-wired into the Scouts' tools. The bit about Subs not editing their own entries is a matter of convention and if you get one by accident you're supposed to send it back.

Hope that helps. smiley - ok

I was pointing out a viable way to scout and sub stuff while bypassing official channels. Everything posted on h2g2 is available through the search engine, not just Edited Guide entries.

So I would do them seperately... Scout an entry for editing but select another one to edit myself? That's okay.

I'm not really here

afaik the subs are sent entries by the italics, they don't choose them. Although they can go to the uni and chose a project to help with.
