... you missed getting to read all those great entries lurking around the back streets of h2g2 and PR... Especially those hilarious ones you look at and think "yeah, that'll get in the Edited Guide... when Mark Moxon flies". 
Oh, and being able to annoy the sub-eds by picking entries with lots of spelling errors and suchlike - actually, that's the best part...
