A Conversation for Lord of the Flies (critical)
Lord of the Flies: Piggy and Jack

That review was very nice. I think something should also be said about Piggy and Jack being on opposite extremes, so here goes:
Piggy is the civilized, wise, and adult entity on the island. He is very closely connected with the Conch Shell. The conch shell is blown like a horn to call "meetings" of all the boys on the island. It is also a symbol of authority and of civilization.
Jack is the chaotic, violent, and savage figure on the island. Jack and his followers eventually secede from Ralph's feeble organisation. Jack's followers not only start their own tribe, but also their own religion, although this is not as obvious.
During the final confrontation between Jack and Piggy, Piggy and the Conch fall from a high cliff. Piggy is killed and the Conch is shattered. This event symbolizes the final disappearence of all logic and organization. The two murders that Jack commited were in part, accidental. (I think manslaughter in court.) But Jack planned to murder Ralph, and he even prepared a special spear with which to do it. (This would be murder in the first degree in court.) The island is engulfed in flames at the conclusion of the book, and all of the children would be destroyed but for the Naval Officer. His appearance in the end of the book was only to allow the author to make one final point, and to provide a less depressing ending.

You're right, what you said probably is relevant, however I wrote the entry two years ago to fit a specific question, my english skills (this was for english class) have moved forward in leaps and bounds as you could see from my edited entries.
THis was just a time filler that i haven't looked at since I put it on the site,
