Glad you like it - but I think I'll re-do the inking tomorrow without the shading; it's hard to tell what's going on when it's smaller. Hard enough at this size.

More tweaks. Really think I'm finished now
Extra links! Uilleann pipes all with double 'l's! (I hope)

I go for unshaded.
Please hold off (you stealthy scouts) as it seems to me that there is still one conundrum to solve: why did Walker and Vallencey go on about 'the first joint'? I'll try and get a look at an 18th century Irish-English dictionary if they have one in TCD and if the meaning of 'cuisle' includes mention of the wrist (my modern dictionary doesn't) then we'll have them on the run.

I'm away from broadband and library, so alas this will have to wait another week or more. The hootoo Eds have written to me -- have they contacted you Malabarista about your blob?

No, but I'm discussing it with the other CAs behind the scenes. There's a third version floating around by now

There seems to be a failure of, eh, observation on the part of the italics here. They wrote me an email saying they were cobbling a blob together, then that they had one, which I took to mean they had read this thread and found your one, but from what you say that seems not so. I haven't seen any others but your unshaded one still gets my vote.

I'm back in the city now and have been to the library; I've ordered the book I want to consult but it won't be in till Tuesday (Monday is our bank holiday). That should be all I need, a quick peek in Shaw's 1780 Gaelic-English dictionary.
Sorry to keep this up in the air so long . . .
