A Original (sort of..) entry for the guide

Being a newbie to DNA (joined through Collective) I thought one of the best ways to get involved would be to write an entry for h2g2. Duh
I have recently being rereading my Dad's Bloom County (American comic strip from the 80's)collections and have stolen them from him. I would like to write a entry on Bloom County but I have a couple of set backs that I could do with a little advice.
Although there is no entry on Bloom County there is an entry on one of the main characters of Bloom County, Bill the Cat A292475. The entry is good but er, concise and mistitled (the strip was never called Bill the Cat). The researcher Algy seems to have their hands full off the guide and doesn't seem to contribute to h2g2 anymore.
What should I do?
How should I go about contacting the researcher and what should I suggest? Although I want to do a entry that covers the whole Bloom County universe I could do with some help.
I am a newbie, I haven't read the sequel Outland and some of the American and political references are lost on me.
I think a helping hand would be handy but I can face it on my own, head on, full charge and with a great deal of correction in PR.
I read Bloom County through two collections and the sequel, Outland, which contained many of the same characters, has one collection that is deleted. The could be a whole in the entry where this book is concerned.
Being a 22 year old Brit many of the politics are lost on me and this will mean extra work. Something I have to consider very seriously.
Algy may be able to fill some of the problems but I would prefer to tackle this on my own at first. Algy may also not be using h2g2 anymore and that leaves me with a problem with my entry as it crosses the subject of A292475. How should I contact Algy and what should I say.
I know this is quite a long post and is only an idea with no entry and I am not even sure this is the correct place to post this but any advice is appreciated.

There is only one thing worse than being Gosho, and that is not being Gosho Posted Nov 15, 2002
All very good questions Safers, and a good place to ask them. Welcome
Firstly, I ought to point out that I have no knowledge of Bloom County, so I can't offer you any help with the content. I can answer a few of your questions though.
Firstly, although your entry may seem to overlap with Algy's, his is only about one character, whereas it sounds like you want to write about the comics in general. There should be no problem there, and you can link to Algy's entry when writing yours if you choose to use GuideML rather than plain text.
Secondly, it looks as if Algy has done an Elvis - left the building. He may or not may not come back, which is why no researcher pages are ever deleted from h2g2, but as it's been almost years since his last appearance here, he's considered AWOL. Even if he does return, you don't really need to contact him as your entry won't be stepping on the toes of his, although you could leave a message for him to let him know (should he ever come back) that there's another Bloom County fan here at h2g2.
If you want to write the entry youself, just go ahead and create an entry at your own Personal Space and start work on it. If you find that you need help, then submit it to the Collaborative Writing Workshop Writing-Collaborative, and also post a message to Ask h2g2 A148907 to let other researchers know about it, as the CWW is something of a graveyard at times (more people read Ask h2g2 than the CWW by many factors of 10 ). Include a link to your entry if you do that.
If you have any other questions, don't hesitate to ask

Hi Safers,
Gosho's come up with pretty much everything I would have said (sorry for not getting back to you sooner). All I'd say is, there's quite a lot of info you can find on the Internet about this sort of thing, so don't feel too intimidated
Take a look at a similar entry on Dilbert - A773778.
All the very best,
Jimster

Safers - good luck with writing the Entry. I'd just like to supplement everybody's support by offering you any help that you need with the site when it comes to writing your Entry - I'm part of all the relevant volunteer groups for this.
Just a thought - have you received an ACE message to help you find your way around? Do you need one, or are you OK?
Whoami?
Key: Complain about this post
