Thanks RE smiley - ok

I hadn't heard of that guy - thanks for that. It is a very similar tale, isn't it?

Thanks Gnomon smiley - ok

I've mentioned that the Attenboroughs were influenced by one of Grey Owl's lectures, and added a few links. I'm happy with this one now.

I'd say the only similarities between Archie Belaney and Cyril Hoskin are that they were born in England, died in Canada, and assumed new identities. Claiming to be an Indian living in the wilds of Canada while actually being an Englishman living among Indians in the wilds of Canada is a little different than claiming to be a Tibetan Lama while actually being an Englishman living in the icy mountains of Devon, having never even visited Tibet.

I'd argue they were pretty much absolute opposites: Belaney sought obscurity but then found a selfless cause, conservation, which brought him into the limelight he had at first tried to avoid; Hoskin sought fame by whatever ridiculous self-serving lies the public would accept.

all that having been said, I hope no mention of Hoskins slips into the entry, which is dandy as it is.smiley - smiley

I'm sure you're right, anhaga (beyond reading 'The Third Eye' back in the 60s, I don't know much about either of the two).

I'm confident, though, that Icy could turn Cyril's story into an interesting entry...

This makes for an interesting read Icy although I'm used to Entries being chronologically written.

Thanks Opti. smiley - ok

This was very difficult to structure, as there were two lives to cover, but I didn't want to reveal the secret one until the end. If you think that any changes would improve it, then let me know.

smiley - cheers Icy

I can see your stance and thus I'm happy for you to break with the chronological layout. smiley - smiley

Your Guide Entry has just been picked from Peer Review by one of our Scouts, and is now heading off into the Editorial Process, which ends with publication in the Edited Guide. We've therefore moved this Review Conversation out of Peer Review and to the entry itself.

If you'd like to know what happens now, check out the page on 'What Happens after your Entry has been Recommended?' at EditedGuide-Process. We hope this explains everything.

Thanks for contributing to the Edited Guide!
