I thought there were some for sale in the shop, but they aren't there...
Hmm...

This page is actually intended to be an introduction to the site, so you'll want to ask questions somewhere else. You might find your answers if you tried asking the whole community at http://www.h2g2.com/askh2g2 There aren't a lot of people who circulate through these pages...

By the way, nobody can say hello to you properly until you've put a message on your personal space. Even something simple like 'Hi' will do for a starter. There's a whole team of volunteers on-site called the Aces (Assistant Community Editors) who range around and welcome newcomers to h2g2 and help them find their way around. smiley - smiley

Hope this helped.

Hi shinehelen! Do you realize that I've responded to nearly every one of your postings and you haven't listened to a word I've said? smiley - smiley

If you click the 'Edit Page' button that should appear in the greenish box on the upper right corner of your personal space, people will be able to leave messages for you there. There's a group of people - the h2g2 Aces who are just waiting to chat with new users to the site. But they can't do that until you type a message in your personal space!

If you're having trouble following this, click the link in this text http://www.h2g2.com/Aces and ask one of the Aces for help and I'm sure someone will oblige! smiley - smiley

Bald Bloke.......thanks for the link to H2G2 CD purchase site at BBC. Query......I'm in the U.S. and noticed the options of primary phase, secondary phase for two different CDs. Is this some sort of EU conspiracy.....kind of like the differing video formats? Or is each CD 1/2 of the complete broadcast series?

Thanks to anyone out there who responds.

Maybe it just a southern thang,

Hi Bo

There were two series of THHGTTG on radio hence the two CD's so you need both of them to get the complete set.

While I'm on

At the moment you only appear as number in your postings if you click on the Preferences button you can change the setup top show your chosen user name, as well as some other options such as setting a password so that you can log in from any computer anywhere.

Also you could edit your user page to get rid of the standard note, you know the one that goes "researcher xxx hasn't found time to fill out their page" or something like that.

It doesn't have to be anything fancy, just edit the text to say Hi or similar is a good start smiley - smiley

Once you do the rest of us will be able to post messages to your page

Once you do I'm sure one of the aces (h2g2's official meeters and greeters), Like JimiX who posted earlier in this forum, together with a hoard of others will pop round and see you soon.

Some links you might find useless (or not as the case may be)

As your new to the site you might want to have a look at the newcomers page http://www.h2g2.com/A5752

If you want to know who's on line at the moment see http://www.h2g2.com/online or you can start the same list from the button at the top of the page.

A list of the busiest forums and most recent edited entries is available on the front page (which you can get to at any time by clicking on the H2G2 logo at the top of the page)

A more detailed list of recent posting etc can be found at http://www.h2g2.com/info

Help in using the site is always available from "Dont Panic" the h2g2 help system which you can get to by clicking the Help button on any page.

The Dont Panic FAQ gives a very good description of how to use the site and should be able to solve any problems you have using the site.

And if that doesn't work you can always ask in the feedback forums http://www.h2g2.com/feedback.

As for ways of finding your way around this site...

The best way I have found to get to know this place is to click on other researchers names (which takes you to their home page) and see where they have been going and contributing to, most of us keep a list of our favorite links on our homepages.

Mine is at http://www.h2g2.com/U55660 it ain't much but so it goes smiley - smiley
