Blackberry Cat , if one wishes to remain an individual in the midst of the teeming multitudes, one must make oneself grotesque

1 theory was any time traveller going back into the past would alter it thereby setting up an alternate time stream
(s)he might think when returning to the present that they'd changed it but actually their own present still existed but they could only return to the present they'd created

a visitor to planet earth

Maybe time travel is not possible. There may only be the present, now. The past and future may not exist at all.

not sure I can explain it any better than I have, however Michael Moorcocks 'Dancers at the End of Time' series has some examples of how it may work (if you can stand his work which I know Adelaide can't smiley - biggrin)

Time travel is possible but you can only go forward (bare with me) if you go into space in a rocket and go really fast (say the speed of light) time would seemingly go faster outside of the ship (ever seen planet of the apes?) but you would have to go faster than the speed of light which is impossible because that is the speed limit for the universe. even if you did youd have to go for a long time to make any differance.

or if you wanted to go into the future on earth, then go out really far for a year or two... say barnards star system... and comeback, you will have seemed to have traveled thousands of years into earths future...

But when you got back ther'd have been no point because humans will have died out or evolved so much that you'd be like a tape worm is to us. they might keep you as a pet, get board and flush you down the toilet. smiley - tea

thats just evil!... it might be a good thing though cuz if you have an incurable disease then in the future they might beable to fix it.... but then whats the point of living right?

Then it wouldnt be uncureable anymore, and who says they'd cure you? they would probably charge you a lot because they might be discriminative against the 'old' breed of human. smiley - tea

I certainly believe in life on other planets. All the scientists on Earth are saying that life require what we live on, this isn't true, for if we look at those Martian microbes found in 2001, they don't feed on oxygen like we do. I often write science-fiction stories based around the technical and biological approach to aliens. For example, life can exist on Planet Venus despite the awful temperatures. Supposing there were a system of caverns underground thermally insulated from heat. It is my theory that a Venusian may be used to such hazardous temperatures and pressure, and may possibly have small "refining cells" in the windpipe, filtering all toxins from the air, so that only pure oxygen may be left once it enters the lung(s). I remember one TV show called BUCKY O' HARE, that claimed there was a parallel universe known as the Aniverse, where the alien inhabitants were all animals! Another possible look of an alien disputed by scientists could be that aliens may have the molecular structure of gas, kept together perhaps by very weak ionic bonds. If they have a similar structure to air, then to us they may be invisible (Which Gerry Anderson pointed out in 1 episode of FIREBALL XL5) These are only thoughts, what's your opinion?

That is the most well thought out, logical arguement i have ever heard!
i agree. and to aliens, earth may seem inhospital. smiley - tea
