I'm devastated

A few years ago, a good friend was in hospital after a bad motorbike accident, in which his fiance died. He desperately needed cheering up, so I presented him with a copy of HHGTG.
Next time I saw him, he said that he never felt so guilty, as he couldn't stop laughing!!
Douglas, your writing was able to cheer up a man in the depths of his despair. If you have no other achievement in your all too brief life - be proud of this one.
Goodbye mate, the world is better a better place for you having been in it.

I wish to add my own condolences to the family. His books brought smiles and laughter to all who read them. (My own particular favourite is Marvin, brain the size of a planet, in need of a left side diodectomy).
Rest in peace Douglas. The books and your many characters will be your memorial.

I've only just found this site, a sad time to do so.
"Don't Panic" is the best advice one can receive and give but you have to accept DA's wonderful logic that makes anything possible e.g. "flying is simply throwing yourself at the ground and missing".

finding out that Douglas Adams had died was one of the nastiest shocks I have ever experienced - my condolences to his family.
scarcely a day goes past without something in HHGTTG being relevant to everyday life. I wish someone would make anti fear sunglasses.
I hope this site becomes something akin to the guide ...
