I would just like to mention one other pub - Ryans of Beggars Bush. I have many happy memories of the place. Friendly staff, no music, nice pints, old world feel. 'Course it is 2 years since I was there, so its entirely possible that they have ditched the old-style furniture, shoved in minimalistic beechwood furnishings, told the locals of the area to bug off in favour of a "better class" of customer, stuck up hypersonic speakers, have regular promotions of Red Bull and Vodka, and started dishing out Veal with Kessel and Coriander at lunchtime.
I dearly hope not. Somebody, please tell me its still the same...
Oh, and what about the Gravediggers up by the Botanical Garden?

The beggars bush is still OK, (my Fiancée used to live thereabouts) but suffers from overspill from The Schoolhouse when the weather is warm (mercifully rare )

Whew, good to hear! I can't remember the Schoolhouse - that's not the one further up the same road towards Baggot Street? Seems like I don't need to remember it...

The school house is a nice pub when it's not full of *self moderated*...
The problem is that it is the only pub with a beer garden in its vicinity (by the canal of Merrion St.) and people park their open top BMW 7-series by it and stand around in the garden drinking Ballygowen-ice-and-a-slice and wearing pastel coloured Pringle jumpers over their shoulders ... and that's all wrong!
