Congratulations Big Al!
A well deserved Entry to the Edited Guide.
This is a fascinating Entry, but I cannot pretend to understand it all; particularly the scientific nomenclature! But the fact that we are all, as animals, carbon based is interesting enough in itself. That, together with the mysterious nature of water, electricity and magnetism makes scientific endeavour a wonderful pursuit.

One point I've just noticed: silicon DOES catenate to many thousands of atoms. The reason why people thought it didn't is because the original researches wroking on silicon oligomers left the samples on a sunny windowsill, and the Si-Si bonds just happen to be UV-labile.

Maybe I should just say 'stable' catenates then (IMO, this amounts to the same thing anyway)
