i find this individual fascinating and i want to know more! i have found that of all the 'lioness' info on the innernets, most of it is based on your post, including the wikipedia entry. i was hoping you might share your sources; but it appears if i want to know more i'm gonna have to learn french!

I'm glad you found the article of interest, most of my sources are genealogical and very dry reading. Indeed some of what I have discovered comes from French manuscripts, however, the de Bois link is one worth following up.

There are contemporary descriptions, but I couldn't clarify these, but by all accounts she was a bit of a fiery redhead, short in stature but pleasing to the eye. Although the accounts may be biased, because she was liable to cut your head off if anything unkind was said...

Look into female pirates too, you may find a little more.
