I think this is a well-written entry on a great, seminal band, and would be a worthwhil eaddition to the edited guide.

Because the article is a little over a year old, it needs one minor update- the release of a "best of" CD. The new album is "21 Singles 1984-1998" and was released in 2002 on Rhino/Warner Bros.

Hi there Psycho, smiley - ok

great idea to drop this into PR. Did you check with/inform the author first? Just wondering. I don't know what the etiquette about these things is, really.

I think it is a good entry. Maybe not *quite* complete...

*Upside-down; surely one of the greatest singles of all time*

Ooh, cool! smiley - ok

I wrote the article for a project about Glasgow - I also wrote about some other Glaswegian bands: Teenage Fanclub, Texas, Aztec Camera, Travis and Primal Scream if I remember correctly. Don't ask me what happened to the rest of the project though. smiley - erm

I'll update it to include the singles compilation. Anything else I should mention?

Right, I've added another paragraph mentioning the compilation, and added a link to psychocandy's excellent Black Rebel Motorcycle Club entry. smiley - ok

Dr. E,

I would like to apologize for not asking you first before I submitted this for review- I got a bit too excited and just hit the button. (It's a good thing I'm not in charge of nuclear weapons!) It's such a wonderful article about my all-time favorite band! I just love it! smiley - biggrin

I wish I'd seen this one and the one on Primal Scream before mine had been edited, I'd have linked to them myself in my BRMC entry. Thanks for adding the link to my entry in your update!

I'm reminded of that section in the middle of the Wedding Present's first album, George Best, where David Gedge is heard talking to the sound engineers:

"... if you ask me if that guitar sounds nice, I'd say *yes* it sounds nice. If it's a nice smooth distorted sound and not completely interfering and overloading. .... They *are* nice sounds to me. But what you're paid to do is to make sure the frequencies don't interfere. So there's no point in asking me if it sounds alright."

I love that sound on Psychocandy, and esp in it's most extreme form in Upside-down and Cracked.

Then there's Mushroomhead! What the f**k was old Jim-boy on about in that one?! <????>
