Does people using the name of Jesus Christ as a swear word count as a rule breaker? Given that it is considered an insult by Christians to their faith?

I know it's common parlance these days, as is saying 'Oh God', which Christians would also take offence at, but does it count as offensive on hootoo?

I just wondered if someone could clarify this for me (this is not to start a debate on whether people SHOULD be offended).

I wouldn't have thought so for a second. In fact, I'm sure it isn't, as I seme to recall the issue cropped up during the Hub discussion about what words should be acceptable.

In that instance we'd always have to look at the context. If we received a complaint because someone was using it as an exclamation we probably wouldn't advise removing it, but if someone was doing that in a discussion between Christians, we possibly would if it looked like provocation.

In the case I think you're thinking of Jules, I'm fairly sure the Researcher in question wasn't trying to be provocative.
