I am a member of The Transport Diagram an independent band and would like to offer up links to our songs if it comes up in addition to URL links as they become available. There is no profit involved per se but it is a form of advertisement I suppose technically. We are avid fans of the errantly called Trilogy, and by golly, The Restaurant at the End of the Universe has mention of fictional bands. Ok that was stretching it. I am not looking for a media blitz, just a sharing of our creative spirit. Please let me know. Thanks, Phil and The Transport Diagram

I'm sure there's nothing wrong with giving out your band's url if it comes up in conversation, but I'm not sure about links to songs. That might be stepping over a line as far as advertising goes, and also as far as links to certain file formats is concerned. It used to be a rule around here that you couldn't link to a lot of formats, such as PDFs for instance because not everyone would have the software to be able to open them, but I don't know if that's quite so strictly adhered to these days.
The Editors will be back in the office on Tuesday morning and they'll be able to give you the definitive answer
