h2g2 and how it works

Hi to all,
Having recently found this site I'm a little confused. Just how does it work? How do other people read my journal for instance? How do I read theirs? How do they read my personal details or I read theirs?
How do I converse with someone? If some one has a number of, say recipes, can I access them?
Sorry if this all sounds silly to regular users of this board, but any advice would be greatly appreciated.

It looks as though the <./>ACE</.>s missed welcoming you. (Perhaps h2g2 wasn't your first post of call on this site?) It's their job to answer that sort of question, so they're useful to know about.
This isn't a good place for queries not related to the Terms & Conditions; try <./>dontpanic-tour</.> or <./>dontpanic</.>, or if all that fails <./>Askh2g2</.>.
I'm not sure quite what sort of answers you're seeking, but other people read your journal by visiting your Personal Space (<./>U4636704</.>
and looking at the Journal section. To read theirs you do the same thing; try clicking on my name at the top of this post to reach my Space, then scroll down to the journal. A Personal Space can also have an introduction, which I think may be what you mean by personal details; yours is currently blank (and you probably see yours at the bottom of your Space, but everyone else's at the top); there's an Edit button next to the filler text you can use to write an intro.
You converse by posting to threads like this, which can be attached to any Entry, but if you want to talk to someone personally go to his/her Space and find the 'Leave a Message' link. Recipe collections would most likely exist as Entries rather than conversation threads; there's a list of Entries one's listed as an author of on, again, one's Personal Space, but you might have more luck using <./>Search</.>.
