The "parmo"

2 Conversations

The "parmo" is a strange delicacy found only in the NE of England. Its basic structure borrows a lot from the humble pizza in that it involves a large flat base, a tomato, cheese or bolognese sauce followed by a selection of delicious toppings. The difference between this and normal pizzas is that the base is not the usual doughy type crusty stuff but a big flat piece of chicken or pork dipped in bread crumbs then fried. The full or half parmo (the half being about the same price as a normal ten inch pizza) is usualy served with a green salad and chips(soggy french fried potatoes).
I have not heard of this particular food stuff occuring anywhere else on this blue and green(white in places)sphere.
