It's a shame this article wasn't completed. It raises some interesting points.
I wrote a similar guide entry on this subject that defines: -
z / 0 = inf ...for positive z.
z / 0 = 0 ...for zero z.
z / 0 = -inf ...for negative z.
I'm not sure I agree that `inf + a = inf' though. That would imply that: -
(inf + a) - inf = 0 ...which doesn't make a lot of sense to me.
In my oppinion, `inf + a' is simply `inf + a'. There's no way of simplifying it even if we know the value of `a', because the value of `inf' isn't expressible by any other means.
