I'm always sad our choir doesn't exist any more when I read your reports about your choir. Ours was a similar size to yours, but we only had three voices: soprano, alto, and tenor.

Gnomon - time to move on

Perhaps tenors are more common in Germany, but it's very hard to find good tenors in Ireland. The bass voice seems to be more the natural man's voice and we've far more basses in my big choir than tenors. We've had to recruit women with low voices as lady tenors.

On the other hand, the small group has five tenors and only four basses, so we're not doing too badly there.

I have no idea whether or not tenors are common in Germany, but I'd guess they aren't too common. I know my sister sings tenor, and I sometimes did. smiley - smiley
