(sigh, look what's been started)

Well, come to think of it, rabbits are certainly prolific and the energy must come from somewhere. Carrots are what give rabbits long ears - that's well known.

And you know what they say, 'long ears, long... smiley - run

the WWII RAF link caused me to search "flying carrot" and it turns out that the Westland Lysander was nicknamed exactly that. Unfortunately it's service was short lived and didn't make it into the hall of legendary WWII planes. Alas.

That explains it!

I always loved carrot juice in America, but here in Germany, it's horribly bitter. smiley - yuk They add honey, but it doesn't help...

Now I know why, at least!

>>As for the tops, we mean only the blunt end and not the greens.<<

That's a bit confusing. Surely, if you trim off the blunt end, you'll trim off the greens, too, so the point is moot?

btw, to expound on that a little - carrots actually have turpenes which is why they can sometimes taste like turpentine - and this is why it is so critical to remove those parts where turpenes concentrate. When the carrot itself contains to much because of poor soil, drought, etc, then you really have to try and remove it if possible, because you just can't mask bitterness. Certainly not with honey. I have no idea why apples will remove the bitterness, but they do. It was just the happy result of some experimentation.

Hi Pailaway!

You've got the style exactly right on this one, which makes it an enjoyable yet informative read. (How many people read wikipedia for enjoyment?) This has been in Peer Review for more than a week, so I predict that it will be picked soon. (I'm not a scout so I have no inside knowledge. Don't take this as a promise.)

Would you like to do some last-minute tidying:

Opening quote:

Change the first tag to a

Remove the second tag. This will put the quote into the same format as in other entries.

Yes carrots are divine -- add a comma after yes

a really really low cost -- add a comma after the first really

All the subheaders from "And a Health Warning" onward should be headers.

You have beta carotene spelled with a hyphen in some places and a space in others. Be consistent.

There's no need for a capital C on carotene.

Vitamin A --> vitamin A (small v)

And by the way, Another benefit -- lowercase a on another

...and then it's ready to go.

smiley - ok

Your Guide Entry has just been picked from Peer Review by one of our Scouts, and is now heading off into the Editorial Process, which ends with publication in the Edited Guide. We've therefore moved this Review Conversation out of Peer Review and to the entry itself.

If you'd like to know what happens now, check out the page on 'What Happens after your Entry has been Recommended?' at EditedGuide-Process. We hope this explains everything.

Thanks for contributing to the Edited Guide!
