This is a longer piece, about 2200 words, that summarizes all the important stuff from 1763 to 1783 yet bears no resemblance to that Mel Gibson movie.

If you critique it, please hurt me gently.

This looks like a good article thus far. One little note though. I noticed that your entry is full of html tags that aren't doing their job. Your entry must be set for plain text, switch that over to GuideML and go to the GuideML help area to refine it all. Here's a link for the GuideML Clinic:

Good luck and I hope I've been of help.

You have some useful material in here, Bucky, but actually there's a very good, ongoing University of Life project which is dealing comprehensively with this subject matter. It's called USA : Birth of a Nation and the index can be found at A415865 ( http://www.bbc.co.uk/h2g2/guide/A415865 if they'll let me print the full URL ).

I suggest you get in touch with the author of that project and see if he thinks some of this material can be incorporated with any of his articles - if so, you would of course be listed as a contributing researcher. But I don't think this article - even when tidied up - would make it into the edited guide on its own, not because of a lack of quality (far from it) but simply because the subject is already being covered.

All the best, Lear

Actually, that project doesn't have an entry on the war itself, only one on the "seeds" of the way - so there is still plenty of hope for this entry. I'll chat to ColSellers and see what can be done...

Ahh - but there's a second project on the miliary aspects of the revolution, so this entry is indeed duplication...

I'll recommend sinbinning then, I think...
