Firkin pubs are the same sort of chain as a Mc Donald. It is as much an British pub as a Big Mac is a Thanksgiving dinner.

Hi there
I agree... I have been in quite a few myself and I have even found one in Holland... somehow the atmosphere just doesn't quite equate to what I would term a REAL pub

They're better than the Hogsheads. The Hogshead pubs used to look quite nice, now they've turned them all into trendy wine bars.
I'd've prefered them to be banks.
