A Conversation for Soil

Soil

John the gardener says, "Free Tibet!"

Soil is one of the most precious resources on the planet. Good soil is to be treasured.

In North America, it is common for people to refer to soil as dirt (usually the same people who call magazines "books"). People who don't understand the difference should choke on their next meal.

As a gardener, so much of my work is devoted to building good soil (feeding it really; soil should be thought of as an organism), that the flower displays that result are almost literally icing on the cake.

Take up a handful of good soil sometime. Smell it. Feel it's texture. It's amazing stuff!
