A Conversation for Attention Deficit Disorder

A.D.H.D.

I have a son who is now almost 8. He was diagnosed with A.D.H.D. 18 months ago. He has been on medication for all that time. There has been a huge improvement in his concentration, and he is now living up to the potential I know he has.

Although I am unhappy about medicating him to 'control' his behaviour, I have done it to benefit him. He was falling behind at school, having great difficulties in concentrating on even the most basic of tasks. I was called into school on too many occasions to count with a new complaint about his behaviour.

Surely it is better to help children to conform to the way that society would expect, than to give him more problems in later life.
