I was born in Southampton and lived there for 20 years. Better than Portsmouth does say a lot! I am appalled at what they have done to the city every time I go back. Even my Sister who till lives there never goes across the bridge into the city any more! shame!

I live there too. It doesn't seem that bad, except that it doesn't have any pride in what it has, so it lets it all get knocked down, hidden and demolished.

Bluebottle, did you ever finish your 'bit' about the walls round Southampton? I understand that York has the most still standing, then Southampton has more than anywhere else so is 2nd in the amount of City(Town) wall left. Someone else forgot to mention the museum where I understand the Supermarine Seaplane is stored, this won the Schnider (Spelling?) Trophy before WW2. It was also the basis for the Spitfire aircraft. Which by the way first flew from Eastleigh Airport, now known as southampton Airport.
