One puzzles me about the (now deemed to be fictious story, is what would drive a child to cut down a cherry tree.

A friend of mine dug a hole in her parents' lawn and filled it with water to "make a swamp".

How we look at life is very different for each person, what one person may find stressful another person may find relaxing. It is the same with your friend digging a hole in a lawn and filling it with water and calling it a swamp, while other people would see it differently.
