Jim, a very well written article and it shows how recruitment practices have changed. When I tried to join the Royal Navy, there was a form to fill and even a written test but because I was on medication I could not join up but for a what I know even when you pass all the tests and medical you can wait up to 18 months before you are actually enlisted. I liked reading about how you and the rest of your work mates reactions after they had been enlisted as well as family members.

Jim, I do not what the pay is like but I have heard that out of your pay goes towards the cost of board and lodgings. I am not quite sure if it is ture or not.
