The film of the book of the play

I found your article suggesting a screenplay treatment for the film of the book of the play, and thought it was very knowledgeable and a good read.

I accept it is a pity that I am neither Mickey Mouse or a Film Producer, but I could not see your work unread and unloved.

I can only make the observation that my imagination transcends the perspective and constraints defined by the vortex. All I need is a fairy cake and a tape of the original broadcasts, and I make something that is much better than any book of film or pre-defined media.

So the film will never measure up to our own imaginative visualisation. It will always be someone else's view.

Whilst I understand your desire to lay down a treatment that makes chronological sense, a film that revolves around being able to travel backwards and forwards around the beginning and the end of the universe is going to have bigger problems than sorting out just when and how Arthur's romantic ambitions got thwarted by Zaphod. DNA's big personal joke was to create a series which purported to make sense of Earth in a broader context and yet wiped out our entire planet within the first five minutes. It would be a shame to spoil the joke.

Although as a former Personnel Officer, I do believe the film would be better without portraying my profession as part of the useless third of society.

So long, and thanks for the food for thought.

My your ideas find somewhere fertile to take root.
