I reckon these 2 sentences:

'The Arctic wolf (Canis lupus arctus) is now the only sub-species that roams over the whole of its original range, where it's now protected. Its range is throughout the Arctic, but excluding the permanent ice sheets and sea ice.'



would fit better at the end of the section on 'Hungry for History'
