Hello all,
I am not the best write in the world, but thought it might be nice to share the good viewing areas if anyone ever decides to come to Florida to view a shuttle/rocket launch. Sounds like it would be a good entry for the guide. Hope you all approve.

I like your Entry. Imho it has good chances to be included within the Edited Guide, as it gives some useful but not too obvious travelling information.
One thing you might try to change in order to improve the chances of your Entry: Try to use GuideML. It's not hard at all but gives you some easy-to-use formatting tools like headers, footnotes or paragraphs.
Just jump over to http://www.h2g2.com/GuideML-Clinic to take a quick tour through GuideML.
Start Your Entry with
and finish it with
The text or your Entry will be between these "tags", with the paragraphs separated by .. tags.
If you need some help, just let me know or call another Guardian Angel.
GuideML is just a small step for a researcher, but a giant leap forward for the Guide.

You'll be glad to hear that your excellent entry has now gone into the Editorial Process for future inclusion in the Edited Guide. This means that the day will come when your Entry will be featured on the Front Page. Please keep in mind that the Sub-Editors are only humans (that's what I've been told ) and that the Editorial process may take some time. You'll be informed by Email when your Entry has made it.
One part of this process will be the GuideML adaption. If you can do that yourself, the Editors will love you!

I am honored that the guide is considering my entry. I will have to make some time to learn guideml. Where is a good place on the web for me to store pics that my entry can pull them from? I'm thinking about including some pics I took of past launches, including John Glenn's launch.

I'm afraid the Guide will not show your pics in an Edited Entry, as they have an own Graphics Department to take care of all illustrations. If you find a place where to store your pics (maybe "Fotango", I haven't tried it yet) they might add a link to that place. That's not up to me, however.
Good luck for your next Entries (I hope they will come soon!)

Editorial Note: This thread has been moved out of the Peer Review forum because this entry has now been recommended for the Edited Guide.
If they haven't been along already, the Scout who recommended your entry will post here soon, to let you know what happens next.
Congratulations!

Thank you Mark. I hope to find some time in the next few days to do some editing and try out guideml to clean it up better. If you want me to hold off on that and let the editors do all the editing, then let me know. I am curious to see what will happen next and to see the whole process.

Hi Random and all!
This is the next step in the process, I'm your friendly neighborhood subeditor .. I will be putting together your entry ... dont worry about the GuideML .. Ill handle it .. though do practice as its worth learning .. and certainly speeds up the process.
At this time even pics hosted on Fotango will not be included in edited articles, as there are issues such as copyrights. Some are illustrated by our top-notch art team .. and some are stand alone.
So this is your last chance, if anyone feels this article needs anything else, or has any suggestions on how to perfect it .. post them here or over in Beeblefish's Subediting Playground (http://www.h2g2.com/A342901), where it is going up.
Cheers!

BeebleFish,
I like what you did with my entry. It turned out pretty good. I do have some personal pics, though not the quality you would see in the magazines or paper, of shuttle launches. I have some good ones of the John Glenn launch going up between two palm trees. If you would like to include them in my entry, let me know and I can arrange to email them.
One suggestion though, I found at least one misspelled word. Can you run a spell check over it before publishing? I don't want the world to think that I can't spell, though you and I already know it's true.
I am looking forward to seeing the finished product Beeblefish. Thanks for taking the time to edit it. As time goes by, I will submit other entries on items such as the best way to tour NASA, local fishing spots, best beaches, and even the best strip bars in the Cape Canaveral area.

Dont worry Random, I'll be going through a whole manual as well as computer spell check, as well as perhaps some more reformatting, putting in headers etc.. So far I've just broken it up into paragraphs and removed a few personal refs ... As to the pics, no articles have anything but artwork right now, done by the team .. You will hear if that changes, as it will be a major change.
Looking forward to reading any of your articles!

Random -- Ive checked with the (looks up) Powers That Be and they said if the pictures really do add something and if the art dept. agrees and they are totally original they may be included. This is still in the experimental stage, so I can't promise anything. So any pics you would like us to consider going with this article call be mailed to me at [email protected]. I would be especially interested in seeing any taken from some of the places you suggest, or of crowds, the beach etc. And especially any of the lateral accent you mention.
Thanks!

Hey Bud!
I will get some personal pics of the launches to you after the holidays. Going out of state on vacation for the holiday season. Should be back after the first. How is the article coming? When does it make it's debut? Looking forward to seeing the finished product.

Random ~ I have to get this entry submitted and unfortuantely I dont know if that will allow me to be able to wait for pics .. what I will do is submit it with a note attached that pictures are forthcoming.
As to when it will make its debut that is totally up to now much stuff is backlogged, but from past experience fairly soon .. the pictures may be used or not .. not my decision , or they may choose to add them later as an update .. That's pretty much as much as I know this end.
Cheer!
